Medical Massage

Massage can address medical issues that are either chronic or acute.

Massage therapy is best known as a way to help you relax and relieve stress. And it’s true! Massage therapy can reduce stress, relieve muscle aches, improve your sleep and improve your mood. However, a lesser-known fact is that massage therapy has benefits far beyond relaxation or stress relief. Massage can also support more serious medical condition recovery – otherwise known as medical-massage.

Through medical massage, a massage therapist can work on a number of medical issues that are either chronic or acute.

These conditions can include:

Chronic Pain

  • Back pain

  • Neck and shoulder pain

  • Headache

  • Carpal tunnel syndrome

  • Osteoarthritis

  • Fibromyalgia

  • Hypermobility disorders

  • Hospice (removing just because we are on the second story but good for the future)

Mental and Emotional

  • Chronic stress

  • Anxiety and depression

  • Depression

  • Post-traumatic care

  • Substance use recovery

Acute Medical Conditions

  • Cancer management

  • Post-operative pain

  • Pre and postnatal care

Rehab/Physical Training

  • Performance training/injury treatment

  • Ergonomics and job-related injuries

  • Cardiac rehab

  • Joint replacement surgery

  • Scar management

Your massage should leave you feeling amazing but in general, medical massage involves more focused work on the areas of discomfort — the muscles, tendons, and ligaments that move and support your body. Your massage therapist will tailor the massage to your needs, depending on the areas of issue and potentially under the direction of your physician.

Notice if you wish to bill your insurance: we must verify your benefits before your appointment. Once you book an appointment, complete the intake form sent to your email address at least 48-hours before your booking. If verification does not occur within this timeframe, our cash rate will be collected at the time of service. You are always encouraged to ask your insurer directly if massage and manual therapy are covered by your insurance. Review our Insurance page for more info.
